It's about time this cruelty was banned in shelters - don't you agree?
PLEASE READ AND SHARE the news ..this will give people in the community further understanding about what's been going on behind many disgusting shelter's walls!
Heartsticking - there is a law mandating the animal be sedated first. The Heart stick is a painful practice in which nerve layers are penetrated with a needle and one jab doesn’t always get the job done.
Here’s what the AVMA says about heartsticking: Intracardiac injection is acceptable only when performed on heavily sedated, anesthetized, or comatose animals.
It is not considered acceptable in awake animals, owing to the difficulty and unpredictability of performing the injection accurately.
The AVMA, who thinks stuffing pets into a gas chamber in order to kill them is A-OK, considers heartsticking awake animals to be “unacceptable”.
Gassing - In many shelters in the U.S, there is a cruel method of “euthanasia” involving placing animals in a gas chamber without sedation where they suffocate to death. In some shelters, cats are piled in with dogs, small dogs are mixed in with large dogs, they put live dogs on top of dead ones and they all fight each other for the last breath of air.
Note : We FULLY support the wonderful ladies who run the Take Action - Help Ban Animal Gas Chambers facebook page.
